The GREAT WESTERN CATTLE TRAIL ASSOCIATION (GWCTA), Texas Branch, just held their Spring meeting in Alice, TX. The group promotes the history of the trail that passed through Coleman and Coleman County and they also encourage history-based travel up and down the trail.
Paul Noack, president of the Texas Chapter of the GWCTA called and said that the Texas Chapter is planning to have its June 6th meeting in Coleman. Tentatively, they are looking at a meeting room at Hidalgo’s. Their meetings usually begin at 11 a.m., recess for lunch at noon, and end by 3 or 4 p.m.
This is an opportunity to both share Coleman County’s rich Western history and to generate more tourism dollars for County businesses.
All interested people in the area are invited to attend and take part in the effort enjoyed by folks between Brownsville and Doan's Crossing on the Red River.
If you are interested in attending, contact Mary Griffis ASAP at the Coleman County Chamber of Commerce 325-625-2163 / firstname.lastname@example.org so that she can get a head count.
