Blood drive in Coleman on September 4
All blood types needed
A community blood drive will be held at the Senior Citizens Center in Coleman on Thursday, September 4. The Meek Blood Center bloodmobile will accept donations from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. A record thirty five donors participated in the blood drive that took place on July 10.
“We are asking donors to please remember that the need for blood is constant. Even the regular of blood donors get busy in the summer with vacations and other activities and forget to donate blood. Blood donation only takes about an hour, and that hour could give someone else a lifetime,” said Frances Baker, donor recruiter for Meek Blood Center.
Changes have been made to streamline the screening process and some previous restrictions regarding medical conditions and medications have been lifted. Those who have eligibility questions can speak with the Meek Blood Center supervisor at 325-670-2880.
Each donor will receive a T-shirt and a complimentary total cholesterol test.

Going back to the office after lunch on Tuesday, I beheld (much to my disbelief) a sign sitting on the side of main street in Santa Anna, Texas.
I pulled over and sure 'nuff, Free Stuff. I got an ice cream that was very good on such a hot day.
KOXE Radio from Brownwood had their van sitting there, loaded with FREE STUFF.
Lots of free stuff.
Most of us know the names of a few who work at KOXE, but this was an opportunity to meet and greet a bunch of these nice people. (they gave me ice cream)
Most who drive the early morning roads and highways know Carl Wayne as the DJ who keeps them out of traffic problems and keeps us entertained as we head to the daily grinder. And he is usually the voice you hear telling you where you can get free stuff, etc.
Others that you usually see at these events and who were giving FREE STUFF were Ronda, Dana, Brenda, and Randy.
It didn't take long for a crowd to gather.
Thanks guys and gals for putting in an appearance in Santa Anna.
